Sir John

Today's the day ........................ to cross the Channel

Paris was our destination today - and we were getting there by train.

So that meant an early start from Oxenholme Station on the London train to Euston. A quick hop on the tube took us to the magnificent St Pancras - home to the Eurostar on this side of the Channel.

You could spend hours in St Pancras. It's a destination in itself. It always seems to be a peaceful, calm place - and yet it's a hub of excitement of people arriving or departing. There's usually someone playing the piano - just because they can. Today, you could catch a glimpse of a full sized Dennis the Menace having his picture taken with lots of kids at the launch of the 2015 Beano Annual. Dennis is featured at St Pancras on the front cover, so it was a good place to do the launch.

This is one of the many statues and other pieces of artwork to be found within the building - Sir John Betjeman - who was a huge admirer of its Victorian architecture. Funny thing is that we were in exactly the same place, exactly a year ago................
