Snails snacking

I was out in the garden looking at plants still in flower when I discovered a large number of snails eating what remains of my Hollyhocks!

I really need to set aside an afternoon for garden maintenance. Indoor matters are much more pressing at the moment..... I'm trying to work out how to make stars (crochet)- the pattern is a little confusing for someone who has only just stated... I'll get there.
