Mini Antarctica

That's what Aberdeen is like just now. I hadn't blipped when I had to go a detour tonight and saw the River Dee. I know I blipped alot recently but it's been so dramatic! Today it had thawed quite a lot from Tuesday and the water was flowing down the middle. What became clear today though was that the whole river had frozen, not just the surface like people thought. At the sides, there was a good 3 or 4 ft of ice, solid ice in massive chunks. Sitting on the river bed. It was cracking and every so often a bit would break off making a bid for freedom downstream.

I don't this shot actually does the size of these things justice. It was belting with rain, and bitterly cold so I gave up!
