Shed

Brass screws, cup hooks,
a tangled hammock,
curtain fixings,
string.

Dusty boxes,
old glass, goggles,
rusted paint tins,
pins.

Ladders, snorkels,
rollers, shovels,
racquets, rawlplugs,
rags.

Paper, spanners,
scrapers, hammers,
tennis balls and
sand.

Firewood, trowels,
water bottles,
extension leads,
and seeds.

Ear defenders,
angle grinder,
long-dead batteries,
keys.

Chisels, door bolts,
brushes, gas stove,
a painty workmate,
slates.

Drill bits, charcoal,
a soggy football,
insulating
tape.

All sorted, stashed
and rubbish junked
at last we see the
floor.

Now it’s night,
switch off the light,
I’m going out the
door.
