Tree near Polmaise Castle
The remains of Polmaise Castle are on the northern side of Gillies Hill and consist of a large heap of rubble left after the house was blown up by the army in 1966. Two large stones bear the date of its building..1865. It is possible to make out what would have been the gardens which were stocked with a range of trees some of which like this one have grown into amazing shapes.
