Sidi bou Said

This blue and white village is built on a beautiful headland close to and looking towards Tunis.

Here Frances is chatting to a man we had met earlier on our journey: a charming civilised guy whose English was as bad as our French. The hand of Fatima, on the door, is a symbol of good luck.

The village is quite special. However our day was made by the fact that we and two friends travelled there by public transport. Train to Tunis and Metro from Tunis, via Carthage, to Sidi bou Said. Getting lost, having discussion about the Scottish referendum with locals, debating religion, people watching made this a most memorable day. And it ended with an excellent meal at the Mediterane Restaurant on the marina at El Kantaoui.
