Former metal working place?

St Martin en Bresse is a small village between Lyon and Dijon. We've been going to a small hotel there on our treks through France for many years. This sign is outside an old shop, no longer used but has all the signs of it being an engineering works. All that remains is a skip full of metal, a battered shop front and this sign.
