You've got to strip it, strip it good!
Day 2 of the stripping project. I'm stripping down Linda's antique table. It's a late 19th century cherry wood side table with two drop-down leaves. It belonged to her great-grandparents in Toronto and it's badly in need of stripping, repair, and refinishing. So far, I've stripped down the tops. I'll work on the legs and support frame next weekend. We will keep its dings and scars intact. It has stories to tell so we'd like to keep them evident, so to speak. We'll just add a slightly-reddish coat of Minwax to colour it up a bit and preserve it. It still has the original hinges.
