Two of a Kind

Two autumn fruits growing in my garden - one the rosehip that has appeared with the removal of the leylandii trees last year and the single quince bush that has lost all its leaves and only bears yellow fruits on its bare branches. Both are rich in nutrients.

Rose hips are particularly high in vitamin C. Apparently during WW II, people were encouraged through letters to The Times, articles in the BMJ, and in pamphlets to gather wild-grown rose hips to make a vitamin C syrup for children.
I’ve found a good recipe using one kilo of rose hips.
