More Lake

Today Nikonabike rose early to go and meet D and D to take sunrise photos at Castlerigg Stone Circle, only to find that the exit barrier at our camp site would not budge until 7am so he was trapped. I, meanwhile, was catching up on my much-needed beauty sleep.

When they returned we ate a huge breakfast and then set off to walk around Derwentwater. Mrs D and I surrendered about 2/3 of the way around and caught the ferry back to Keswick, but C and Mr D plus Hector and Ziggy did the full circuit which I'm guessing is about 10 miles. I took this photo at about 1/4 way round.

I've looked up what the stone is for, and here us the explanation:-
A large split boulder of local Borrowdale volcanic lava placed on the boulder strewn shore to mark 100 years of the National Trust in the Lake District. Located by the lake at Broomhill Point (NY 26721).
