Leucanthemum x superbum - Shaggy Daisy........

........and growing in the garden opposite mine and with a little visitor!

They have been flowering nearly all year and are still looking good, even if shaggy - as their name implies.

Feathery old fashioned and double - are also known as Shasta Daisies. The large, white daisy flowers with irregular shaped petals held in many layers give a lovely soft effect. A hardy old garden favourite almost unkillable. Dark green leaves form a tough crown. Frost & Dry hardy. They enjoy full sun in well drained humus rich soil. They shine out like beacons on a dull day or just as the light is fading in the early evening. but a little light rain too. Also good as cut flowers.

Another dull day - one glimpse of the sun around lunchtime when the temperature got up to 59 Deg.F. - a little drizzle later on.

BOUI re daisies in general:- The daisy was associated with Venus, commonly used as a lovers' divination, plucking the petals whilst chanting s/he loves me, s/he loves me not. Medieval knights wore daisy chains made for them by their Ladies when they rode into battle or tournaments, as a sign of their affection and defence of their Ladies' honour.

Hope you have a pleasant evening.
