The great year abroad

Mohnnudeln

I am always keen to try new cuisine, but I think that I shall be steering clear of these ones! Mohnnudeln is a noodle made from a potato dough, and is covered in a paste, consisting of crushed poppyseeds, butter, and icing sugar. They originate from the waldviertel, where poppyseeds have been cultivated for centuries

Though sweet, these are often served as a main course. You can therefore imagine my surprise as I took a rather large mouthful, expecting a savoury dish, instead receiving a sweet and glutenous globule of noodle.
