Life of a bubble maker

Silfra

Early start this morning, as we needed to get over to Silfra dive site for around 9.30. This is where the Eurasia and North American tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart by 2cm each year. The water from the glacier, which has melted slowly, filters through the rock and comes out here. This means the water is a constant 2 degrees all year round but it’s crystal clear.
Had two great dives here. Photos came out much better the second dive. Here is J at around 8m swimming between the two plates.
From there it was off to Gullfos to see the giant waterfall. Next stop was the Geysers before going back to the hostel.
After a quick tea of fish and chips, it was out to see the Imagine Piece Tower. A light built by Yoko Ono to celebrate John Lennon’s life. It is lit on his birthday and turned off on the day he was shot.
After that we managed to see a small amount of activity from the Northern Lights. Not as good as Finland but still nice to see. A good but knackering day.
