Mersey beat
Woke up this morning to a misty view of the Mersey waterfront from my hotel window in Liverpool. Also to an amazing sight opposite, the vast Tobacco Warehouse that when it was built in 1901 was the largest brick building in the world. Today it is still hugely impressive in scale although sadly derelict, but awaiting renovation into apartments as part of Liverpool's Stanley Dock Village development.
Spent the day driving different versions of the new Vauxhall Corsa in North Wales. Even in dreary weather the scenery was wildly beautiful and the roads are fabulous. We had a morning coffee stop and later on lunch at the Welsh food centre at Bodnant. The Welshcakes were delicious!
Before leaving Liverpool for the long drive back to Kent, I couldn't resist blipping this remarkable staircase in the Titanic Hotel. It is said to be a faithful reproduction of one on the doomed ship. The one in the film was a bit different, but I suppose that was poetic licence.
