Activism
Okay, I'm not sure it quite counts as activism, but tonight I attended my first meeting-disguised-as-a-walk as a member of the Friends of Figgate Park Committee. It's never really been official, but I've wandered the park for years now snapping the wildlife, and posted results to a more-active-than-the-official-page Facebook counter group. Except a little while ago the entire old committee decided to step down, and the previous rebels are now in charge, and I was asked if I wanted to be in the gang.
I think I'm unofficially the Wildlife Secretary (tonight I was advising on disturbance to rabbits and where the park bats might be living). There are ideas and improvements and wills and ways. I'm quite looking forward to getting involved in this. Next step, PM.
Run of nights out coming up. Tomorrow wine tasting dinner matching thing at Blackfriar's; Friday night actually in, but with Mel's dad for dinner to thank him for house sitting recently; Saturday night Iain's sort-of-stag-part-2 with a select wee group, the movies, and Whisky Society on the agenda. I'm too old for that much socialising...
