Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Today was a long day of cold, wet but amazing views. We drove around most of Skye visiting Fairy Pools, Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle, a beach and lots of ruins.
The Fairy Pools were amazing, consisting of a river coming down from the mountains and cutting right through the country side. You can walk the whole way due to a small dirt path running right along the water. A few times you had to jump across the river, with one main point where you had to literally jump from stone to stone and hope you didn't lose your balance and fall (we all made it safely).
Neist Point Lighthouse was amazing but very, very windy. You literally got blown along the path and we soon decided that we wouldn't complete the whole 45min walk around the lighthouse due to the strength of the winds.
Dunvegan Castle was slightly too expensive for us to go in but we took a short detour which allowed us to look back onto the castle without having to enter.
We also took another detour on our way to Portree where we came upon a small beach. With both sand and pebbles we had a relaxing walk and even climbed onto some of the rock formations to get better views out to sea.
We ended our day in Portree, the main town in Skye where we had dinner. With a quick walk around - mainly due to us being sick of the cold and the rain, we saw the quaint seaside houses from the top of the town.
