Ban this circus! (Or at least rename it)
I visited Helsinki in the evening with wife and son. We were planning to visit the art museum Ateneum. A new exhibition is opened soon and the entrance to the basement floor's permanent exhibition would've been free of charge but there was a private event so we couldn't go. We dined at a cheap chain restaurant instead.
Alcohol has been a major topic especially in social media and also news lately. The event called Beer and whisky expo 2014 had to change their name to Beer expo 2014. Otherwise the name would've been considered advertising of strong alcohol beverages, which is illegal. Even two bloggers removed the logos and parts of text with the old illegal name from their blogs as the event might not have got a license otherwise. It appeared to be a misunderstanding, individuals may write whatever they wish. But social media already was filled with comments mentioning the "illegal" name, whisky, and a lot of pictures of whisky were shared.
Next year our ridiculously strict alcohol laws will just get worse. Two breweries have a gigantic beer can on the brewery's yard which they soon have to remove/paint them to look like soda cans. And a horse carriage of Sinebrychoff brewery which carries an old school beer keg advertising their Koff lager will have to paint the kegs so that it has just the name Sinebrychoff in it (the company makes also non-alcoholic beverages). It's also been discussed if it would be possible to remove the "like/share" buttons on Facebook from breweries/bars sites. Just a few to mention. Sounds like North Korea to me. Seems like our politicians and officials don't have real work to do as they waste time to making laws and regulations which just harass people, without having an effect on the problems caused by excessive use of alcohol.
There have been jokes at social media that the landmark building Finlandia house at Helsinki should be renamed since it has the same name as the world-famous vodka. The same would go for this circus we passed by, I guess.
And by the way, whisky is good (well, good whisky, at least).
