Many of the modern tube stations are bland and clinical, but it wasn't always like that back in the 1930's the underground system underwent a massive expansion. The stations designed during this period have a unique elegance and an incredible attention to details. This detail is for an air vent at Turnpike Lane and shows the old turnpike of the 18th century.
Most people will not notice this detail as they are over 2.0m above the platform. But stop and take a look. It is well worth it
