Nidderdale
What a perfect day for our walk in Nidderdale. Best viewed large.
7 miles in all from Burnt Yates, to Shaw Mills, Bishop Thornton, Woodfield Farm and back.
P. our leader followed the instructions of the walk very well as she hadn't done it before, and in many cases there weren't any sign posts of way markers.
(L who was to be the leader, and had done the walk before, but had a funeral to go to, so couldn't come.)
It turned out to be a very interesting walk.
We saw two roe deer, which surprised us, ( or rather we surprised them!)
and made a bee line for the woods.
Had a lovely collie dog join us for part of the walk, before turning round, and off he went back home.
Met a farmer and his son, who had just finished milking, ( see photo bottom left.) and discussed the problem they had with the very poor price they were getting for their milk.
We all decided that we would be quite happy to pay an extra couple of pence for a pint of milk, so long as the money went to the farmers, and not just extra profit for the supermarkets.
Near another farm we came across these "Ladies" Toilets! Needless to say none of us decided to try them out!! ( photo bottom right)
Worst part of the walk was walking through a farmyard, 6inch deep in slurry!!
Glad I didn't slip!
Cleaned most of it off our boots in the long grass, in the next field!
Saw quite a lot of shaggy ink caps in one field.( bottom middle)
Beautiful autumn colours, especially the bracken. (photo top left)
Lovely views of Nidderdale (photo top right) ( unfortunately not very good light when I took the photo.)
Very busy drive home, as we hit all the rush hour traffic.
So Tea,
Bath,
and bed!
After a very enjoyable autumn walk.
