Nelson Mandela statue at Union Building

Today we visited a number of places in Pretoria including the Voortrekker Monument where I succeeded in climbing all the steps to the top!

We also looked at the giant Nelson Mandela statue set in lovely surroundings in front of the Union Building. A large group of local school children can be seen waiting to gather around the base which is a popular spot for photos.

Many streets in the city are lined with Jacaranda trees with their vibrant colour - we are fortunate to have come at this time of year to see this beautiful sight.
