Against oppression

Michael Tippett's lifelong companion (old gentleman on the right, an arranger and writer) comes to hear our rehearsal of Child of our Time. He tells us: 'The piece was written in 1939 against Nazism, but it has been performed all over the world against all sorts of oppression'.

We are going to perform it on the 28th Oct at the Barbican, on a double bill with a new piece about Malala. No shortage of oppression in the news at the moment, is there....
