Pavilion by the sea
While I was in Brighton purchasing new running shoes, I couldn't leave without capturing something of the essence of that seaside town, a close neighbour to Lewes, being only about 10 minutes away on the train.
The Royal Pavilion was a right royal retreat for the Prince Regent, who later became King George IV, and was built in the early 19th century. It's nicely placed for enjoying the fun of the Pier.
In 1852 the palace was redesigned in its present form by John Nash. Its distinctive architectural style is Indo-Saracenic, while the interior was influenced by both Chinese and Indian styles.
