Best Boys
Day 2 of the Bandits holiday with us. Today we (sister Marion and the kids) went on the train to Glasgow to meet up with my nephew Kyle and his girl Nic.
It was a triple surprise: Marion and I had not told either the kids, Nic or Kyle that they were going. Kids thought we were meeting Auntie Marion for coffee before she went through, Kyle and Nic thought it was just me and Mar who were coming.
Great day out; we met Nic (big surprise when she saw kids) for lunch at Pizza Express, then headed, via the Subway to the Museum to meet Kyle. He was similarly shocked in a good way to see the little 'uns. They just love him, and so we spent a couple of hours going round Museum looking at Dinosaurs and funny shoes, and bees in the hive, and Haggii in the wild, and all sorts of stuff.
On the subway back to Queen Street to catch our train home again, I took this shot. Not particularly good, but it shows the two boys I love most in my life. This pair are so similar that I call them by each others names sometimes!
When Kyle was a little kid I was lucky enough to babysit for him a lot, and he is more like a son than a nephew. And Arlo is more than a second-cousin to him. It makes me so happy to see them together, and if my grandson turns out to be half as nice a man as my nephew is, I'll be a very happy Granny indeed!
We arrived back home at Perth station just after 7pm, and made our way to the car to give Auntie Marion a lift home before me and the kids headed back here. As soon as we moved off after dropping Marion at her own house, wee Ida said in a forlorn way from her back seat, "I miss Auntie Marion".
Seriously: can you beat family?
