Sniff

A trip to Berlin Zoo. On a slightly dreich day but apart from the mysterious absence of giraffes (we didn't even go looking for the inevitably mangy lions) it was a good day of wandering around looking at things and there was much appreciation of small brightly-coloured birds, goats and other beasties. The sea lion routine was good and it at least seemed to be willing to play, for fish of course.

There was the expected mad polar bear doing repetitive things, crazed apes looking to me to be painfully aware of their incarceration. Their "funny" play with a box looking far too much like trying to hide from the people staring at them. Still, the weans thought it funny but I still felt obliged to object to keeping wild animals in cages for our entertainment.
