we are considering ourselves very fortuitous. Our walk around Elterwater looked like it was going to be a wet one but we managed to escape with just a few showery rain drops falling on our heads. The five of us, Mr W, Em, me and Mr & Mrs W snr were led by our intrepid exploration leader miss Em along slate paths, around felled trees, through gates, across bridges, down to roaring waterfalls and through mossy green woodlands until we reached our lunch destination beside the River Brathay. After a hearty lunch we retraced our steps and reached the shelter of our car just as the heavens opened. Good timing!
