Cecilie Køste
Today was the last day of the Clicker Expo and it has been AMAZING!
I have learned so much and I am so inspired - it has been such an honour to work with and learn from some of the best animal trainers in the world.
OMG! I have spent 3 days with Karen Pryor! The lady, who invented clicker training! WOOOOW! What a humbling and inspiring experience.
I was meant to have a spectator place this morning, at the Cecilie Køste workshop on how to teach the dog self-control this morning, but when we got there, one of the other spectators asked Helle and I where our dogs were as we had had them with us at the other workshops we attended. We explained that they were in the car as we only had spectator places for this workshop. The handler places were sold out, when we booked our places. It turned out that she actually had a dog and handler place, but had chosen not to work today as her dog was tired, so I got her handler place and could work Hero. It was great. He did really well and understood the training ideas very quickly.
This is Hero and I working with Cecilie (the lady in white) and our helper (the lady in red).
Thank you Helle for stepping back and let me work Hero :-)
Next was a lecture with Ken Ramirez on What to Do When Mistakes Happen. It was so good. Probably the best one this weekend.
After lunch, we went to another lecture. Once again it was Ken Ramirez, but this time the subject was 'Aggression Treatment & Context'. Lots of ideas to try on Beat, who is reactive towards other dogs.
The very last lecture of the day was Karen Pryor herself talking about Creativity. A wonderful way to finish an amazing expo.
The Clicker Expo has been such a beautiful experience in every way. 3 days with happy, friendly people and non stop talking about how to train dogs without using any kind of force, physical manipulation or punishment. What can be more positive?! I wish every dog owner could get an opportunity to experience this kind of training. Positive reinforcement is such a powerful tool!
We start our journey home tomorrow morning and I will most likely not be online again until Thursday evening.
See you then!
