Like home
It's been two weeks now since I left home and it feels like it's been so much longer (in a good way). I'm so settled and it's a brilliant feeling to be comfortable where you are. As soon as I walk into college it feels like home, even if it isn't necessarily into my room. Just in the grounds. It's home.
Today has been great, I've really had an enjoyable day. After some (unsuccessful and unproductive) time in the college library, I headed to hockey. It was supposed to be our first match against Magdalen College but they cancelled on us so instead we went up to Barts (the third year accommodation as well as the college sporting grounds) to do some training. I've never played hockey before so I was quite glad to have the opportunity to just learn the basics and play a bit prior to an actual game. I loved it! It's really good fun and the weather was also stunning, an added bonus. The walk to Barts is quite a way, perhaps around 30-40 minutes, so I've had a lot of fresh air and time away from the library today which has been really great and beneficial for me I think. Hopefully we'll be able to play on Sunday (it's against Brasenose College) because it'll be a fun experience to play my first game of hockey. I love how inclusive it is and how people don't mind that you've never played before. That's what is great about the college community because it's not as intimidating beginning something new because everybody is friendly and happy to see you there (well I hope they were anyway).
After hockey there was welfare tea which is run every Sunday where the welfare reps provide free food and drinks (tea, coffee, juice) in the JCR for students and it's really nice to just meet people and socialise for a bit before getting back down to working. I set some laundry away while working in the library and then have done a few hours work but I'm finding this weeks essay a lot trickier and am currently nowhere near forming an argument for my essay. I haven't really felt very productive or focused on the work front today so have stopped early and will just be more determined tomorrow. It's nice to be able to relax!
