Phoning it in

Got some tickets from a mate who had bought them so long ago that he forgot and then booked a holiday that coincided.
Elvis Costello has written 20 -30 great songs, was the soundtrack to my youth (you should meet my youth some time, he's great!), but this performance...?
He was phoning it in. Too much emphasis on his (frankly) limited guitar skills, needs a band he can stand solid on (Nieve and the Thompsons were one of the tightest backing bands that I've ever seen). And, seriously, Declan? "She"? (may be ze face I can'd forget...etc)
May just be pissed off because of a less than inspired Pars performance earlier... but then, that is a more regular occurrence.
