Lingering summer

I snapped this basket as we left the pub after a most delicious Sunday lunch. On the other side of the door there was a deep purple hollyhock. Will we be growing these tender plants all through the winter?
Inspite of the lunch, I spent some time in the garden in the afternoon, weeding and planting out the wallflowers and sweet Williams - the iPad insists on a capital W here!
Plenty to do, including the painting of sheds! Wondering if my son and daughter in law might like to join in when they come next week!!? The children might enjoy painting too, but as they are only 2 and 4 years old, the result might be a little unpredictable!!
