Fire hazard

We lit the fire for the first time on Friday but haven't had it on since. We had to buy some tools as the previous owners took theirs.

In our last house we occasionally set off the smoke alarms. That was our ignorance in managing a wood fire. So yesterday evening we found the smoke alarm in the studio was beeping every minute or so. I guessed it was a low battery warning but the alarm is on the ceiling: 13ft up. I didn't have a ladder that'd reach - until today. I got up to the alarm and found a notice on it that said replace after 2012.

So now I have a new smoke alarm and a huge extending ladder. Mrs G was alarmed by the whole process! Now we can safely light the fires. (But it's still warm enough that we don't need to, at least according to me)
