Mardale, Hawsewater

Visited Hawsewater today, was amazed at how low the water levels were - at the south end I could walk into the old village of Mardale and see this ruined house (the village was flooded when they built the dam in 1939. Apparently the water levels this year are the lowest since 1976. I thought it was a one-off opportunity to see the ruins.

Quite humbling really - I did wonder what it would feel like to anyone who had lived there!
