Enter stage left

After a busy day I had to go into Invercargill with a student to the Southland 'Youth Mark' Awards. This is funded by the ILT (Invercargill licensing trust) to those outside NZ the ILT is quite an interesting set up- which means that the profits from alcohol sales go to a Trust that then distributes it to local charities Rex. Really excellent set up which has meant for example that all Invercargill schools got Interactive Whiteboards etc.

Anyway I digress. The Youth Mark awards are where schools nominate students who have made a contribution to school life whether it be sporting, cultural or academic. Well this year one of our students was nominated and I had to go make a speech about her and invite her on stage to receive her award. Was very nerve wracking for both of us in front of probably 200 people!
