Baker Pavlov
Got the bus to Vrisses at 07.20 hrs this morning for a visit to friend Pavlov whom we'd saved from the life of a ' metanastis' / gastarbeiter in Germany in January 1980, taking him home back to Crete as he'd felt homesick and could not share the dreams of his uncle in Neuremburg.
He was young, started his bakery in an old bakery and found himself a girl to marry - all within 6 months after his homecoming.
Eversince he and his wife worked hard, raised their 3 children and had a new bakery built and their house on top of that - now their shop is grown and his eldest son took over. Pavlov and his wife still work in the bakery but now as elders as the shop is handed over to his sons. Their daughter a student in Paris.
their lives and home filled with the joys of 4 grandchildren ~ such joy to see them back again and that they created a good life!!
I'd met them earlier on in other visits but then always the time shared was short, not today!
Just received a call from friend Vasilis with whom I'd visited byzantine churhes twice, tomorrow we'll set out for a 3rd day:) He's a keen connaisseur and write articles about his findings and knowing in the local newspaper Chaniotika Nea; today's print of his last article and he's named me as the photographer of the pix (they're mine indeed)
this eve I'll have a blipmeet with Maria V! looking forward to this!!
