Aspiring installation
Before heading back home we squeezed in a visit to the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), where this contribution to Generation 2014 exhibitions was restaged. It is by Nathan Coley and is titled The Lamp of Sacrifice, 286 Places of Worship, Edinburgh. It is miniature cardboard models of every church, synagogue, mosque and temple in Scotland’s capital, then placed side by side in a kind of deconsecrated village. It has been resurrected after almost 10 years in storage since it was first shown in Edinburgh in 2005.
I know this has been blipped at least once before but hey, it was raining and we had a train to catch.
Song.
