Flags

Each year the Royal Navy commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar and death of Admiral Lord Nelson who defeated the French and Spanish fleets on October 21 1805.  The Nelson Monument which was built to look like an upturned telescope was built in his memory and the flags today signal the words of Nelson’s message to his sailors
'England expects that every man will do his duty'

Trafalgar has been described as the first Battle of Britain with about a third of the crew being Scots and helping to establish The British Empire which ruled much of the world for 100 years.
I was reminded of how communications have made huge progresses in the intervening years when messages can now be sent and received instantly on the other side of the world.
