My passion
Followers of my journal will know of my liking for ice cream, and while it seems only a few days ago that I last made a container full, here we go again.
Trouble is my taste for it seems to outstrip the supply. I am not really a dessert person and a single course for our evening meal is more than enough to satisfy the taste buds.
But mention ice cream and somehow I lose my resistance. I fool myself that it is very light on the palate and that just one serving won’t counter any calorie boost I might have earned during the day by walking for an hour or so. But very clearly what I have not yet come to grips with is the will-power to say ‘no’ to a second helping.
Well, it’s in the freezer, and I can always make some more tomorrow, always assuming I have sufficient cream in the fridge, or crème fraiche which I prefer. And I always measure the amount of sugar which goes into the mix very carefully!
But, who am I kidding? Perhaps it was my downfall buying the ice cream making machine in the first place. Friends who had them told me at the time I would soon fall under its spell with the prospect of ice-cream on tap.
They were right; I was hopelessly wrong in protesting that my self restraint was strong enough. And in the time I’ve been collecting my thoughts, another tub is ready! Hooray
