Spring is here...

...and the cercis canadiensis are just finishing with their mauve flowers and the first bronze heart-shaped leaves are appearing. We love these two trees that frame our front door . They put on about 4 metres growth each year and the leaves reach the size of salad plates before ultimately in our southern autumn, glowing all shades of orange through to blackish bronze before falling to reveal their winter skeletal frames.
