Sleeper Bus
The journey to Cat Ba Island was long. Minibus, wait, sleeper bus (10 hours), wait, taxi, wait, ferry, minibus, walk. We left Sapa at 5pm and arrived on Cat Ba Island around 9am the next morning. The sleeper bus had three rows across of these seats which were pretty small as they are made for the Vietnamese frame. It took us a while to settle in but we did eventually get a couple of hours sleep. An experience which we may or may not repeat ... maybe we're too old for this! Unfortunately Andy also left his kindle on the bus as he was pretty much sleep walking when we got off. Don't hold out much hope of getting it back but we'll have a go.
Cat Ba Island seems lovely and we have a great view over the harbour from our (basic but ridiculously cheap) hotel. Will check it out properly tomorrow when we're not so tired.
