Mobile Delta, Alabama
We flew to New Orleans today from Bradley International Airport (our nearest, between Hartford and Springfield), via Atlanta. This is a view of the long Mobile River delta in Alabama, taken about 28 minutes before touching down at New Orleans. It's best seen large.
The city of Mobile is hardly visible, at the western (right-hand) edge of the delta as it reaches the large bay. Here's a good map of Alabama--you can zoom in to see details of the river. (As some of you may remember, my father was from Tuscaloosa Alabama--further north.)
After arrival we had dinner with our friend Marge and Steve from New York, who happen also to be visiting. We ate at Muriel's on Jackson Square--excellent, including crepes with goat cheese and shrimp--I think they were the best crepes I've ever had (and that includes France!).
