Teething
Poor little BabyCyclops, he suffered awfully with his teething overnight. Two particularly painful episodes, each consisting of an hour of screaming / attempting to feed/soothe/medicate and then half an hour of eventual wind down /feed.
MrsCyclops started by applying teething gel, which no longer seemed to work. Then she sprinkled in some teething powder. Which took the edge off but wasn't enough. Then she syringed in some Calpol. (After Googling the appropriateness of this combo). This got us through the night.
But at 7am, MrsCyclops was not sure they'd make it through the day especially with two prior commitments to achieve!
However the overnight experiments did appear to have resulted in a workable medication regime, particularly when an ibuprofen medicine was added in later on at the suggestion of the chemist.
In fact BabyCyclops was quite placid (or totally drugged up?) throughout the day.
We met BabyCyclops's paternal grandparents for a lovely lunch and quite a smiley baby, then we went on to a baby weaning class at the GP surgery. And BabyCyclops had several naps without complaining.
It is now 7pm and BabyCyclops is peacefully asleep in his cot.
Fingers crossed for the night. And that this is teething proper and will thus quickly result in the appearance of the offending teeth and a more cheerful baby.
