The Melted Remote

In my living room we have a wood stove. It’s what we use to heat the house, and although most of the top is covered in a stone chimney there are little ledges around the outside. Sometimes, when the fire isn’t burning, people have a tendency to set random objects on these little ledges. Of course, before the fire is started, you have to check to make sure nothing was left on them. Well, as you can see by this picture of a melted Blu-Ray remote, sometimes we forget. My sister set the remote up there although we aren’t sure when. She claims the fire wasn’t burning when she put it up there, but we think it’s possible that she forgot that the fire is hot. Hot things tend to melt plastic, in case she didn’t know… I’m sure she knows now. Well I suppose it doesn’t really matter when the remote got there, either way my Mom started the fire and a few hours later, when we were trying to watch Netflix, wondering where that remote got to, we found it. We had to peel it off with a spatula and everything. My sister denies all blame, but this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Her phone has been left in the fridge, food, bags and drinks left on top of the car, etc. So maybe we’ll never know who the blame really belongs to, Kenzie for putting the remote there or Mom for not checking first. The remote is still melted. The best part is it still works.
