Friars (don't) Walk (here anymore)

For SarumStroller 's Derelict Thursday challenge.

From the same area where I took last week's shot, this was one of Reading's main shopping centres for many years, connecting Friar Street to the area around the station. It was allowed to run down for a while with the area earmarked for redevelopment, and I think it must be at least 3 or 4 years since the doors closed for good.

This entrance is at 1st floor level, and the stairs up to it are now fenced off, hence the telephoto shot.

Apparently, with redevelopment pending, some use IS being made of Friar's Walk. It's being used as an airsoft venue (as "The Mall"), and at the weekends it hosts...wait for it... an "immersive zombie survival experience"!!
