Lord Smith of Kelvin
Today I attended an event with Lord Smith, of the Smith Commission, at Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
Lord Smith, or as he said easily "Robert will be fine, it's what my mother used to call me", came across as a likeable and charming individual, trying to chart the Commission, as best he can, through its work plan. The ask is a difficult one: of agreeing what further powers should be devolved to the Scottish Parliament in light of 'the vow' made by party leaders.
He is being supported in his work by a team of 15 civil servants and believes the timescale agreed between the parties is achievable. He revealed 10,000 submissions had been received from the public via the Commission's website, which can be found here.
Interesting times ahead, no doubt.
