Is it a bird!

Halfway across the field I spotted what looked like an unusual large bird. I carefully stalked it until I was near enough to take a photo. Then with much excitement I zoomed in to crop what I thought was maybe a new bird for me, this was what I saw.
I had been stalking a rare lesser spotted long tailed .....STICK.
