Photographic pioneer

Last week I went to a fascinating talk about William Fox-Talbot who was one of the early pioneers of modern photography. One of the things he worked on was reducing the time taken to produce images - down from many hours to only a couple of minutes! He produced the first book illustrated by photographs, called 'The Pencil Of Life', which illustrated some of the possible applications of the new technology.
And he did all this here in Reading! The house is in a rather run down area and has long since been turned into flats. There is nothing to see now except this plaque on the wall. I wonder what he would have made of Blipfoto?
