Quite a surprise!

Wandering about and I came across this magnificent Lily by the wayside. No apparent maintenance with the bloom appearing between the surrounding shrubbery.
Question! How is it possible for this Lily to flourish so well when those that I nurture in my garden throw up a few leaves and no flowers?

Maybe I should check my thumb. Not green enough!
