Two
One of the funny things about becoming proper, "RL" friends with people from Twitter is that you can't always remember how, why or when you first started following and talking to them. What, for example, prompted me to start following the ribald @deanfeelhips? But, lovely man that he is, I'm very glad that I did.
Similarly, I can't remember just how I ended up following the Minx. I do remember that we used to chat a little - maybe exchanging two or three tweets - from time to time, and also that once in a while on a Friday, she'd do these #ff drawings, which I loved the idea of. But we did start to chat more and more and, two years ago today, we eventually had a tweet up á deux.
Tonight we celebrated this anniversary by going for dinner at Hipping Hall, just along the A65 from Kirkby Lonsdale. We opted for the tasting menu - seven courses, with seven different wines - and it was amazing. There was, admittedly, the slightly awkward part of each course as the charming staff explained the food and the wine to us, while we sat there trying to take it all in and to look suitably appreciative, but each course tasted incredible; a tastebud-boggling combination of flavours and textures.
And, actually, I rather like having courses that are just a few mouthfuls each, as opposed to choosing one thing and then having a big plate of food set down in front of you. My favourite courses were the amuse-bouche - not least for the Minx's ongoing bemusement at the riceless risotto - the splendid lamb from Kitridding Farm and the chocolate mousse, and all of the wines were incredible. There was a sherry served with the chocolate mousse which should have been unbearably sweet but which complemented it perfectly.
And all of the above, served with a generous helping of the Minx's company. Cheers!
