The final encore
Yesterday's Blip was supposed to be the last look at the life of the Lawyer's Wig.
But a knowledgeable Blipper kindly advised me to go back for one last look. So I did and here is the dramatic conclusion of this little biography.
The spore bearing ink has dripped to the ground and in exuding it the edges of the Wig have rolled up and blackened in a dramatic fashion. A short but interesting life.
The end for these two specimens but this morning about a dozen new ones have emerged on the same piece of lawn.
As we go south tomorrow to do grandparenting I shall not be able to follow them.
Walking home from Leighton Moss today I looked up to see at least 150 geese in v formations making their way to Leighton Moss, ready to star in the BBC Autumn Watch programmes next week. My wife (Ann) expects to be on air on the red button service on Friday,31st between 12 and 2p.m. She will be talking with Brett Westwood about the plants, seed heads and trees which you can see on the Reserve at this time of the year.
