The Autumn of Our Own Existence
Dear Diary,
Another day of wind and showers and now it is gone...finally, it is promised that the sun will shine today! The trees along the shore of the pond have been striped of their leaves and the water level is back up to normal.
I found a wonderful post yesterday on Google+ called "The Autumn of Our Own Existence" by Omid Safi. It talked about how the colors of the leaves was always there. When the photosynthesis process ends - the work of the leaves - the green fades and the warm reds, oranges and yellows are revealed.
After my walk in the linear labyrinth the other day, I realized that I am in the Autumn time of my life...my work of being a teacher is over. Safi suggests that it is now that my true inner colors can come through. I found it such a lovely idea.
As I enter this autumn season — and the autumn of my own existence — I am growing slowly more comfortable with the becoming less and less, so that more and more can be revealed.
- Omar Safi
