Archie not keen on Autumn...
Tossed and turned last night at yesterday’s decision to restrict Archie inside when I’m out, so that he doesn’t bark at the neighbour. I then decided this was silly - what if he was shut inside all week, and she didn’t even hang out any washing? Too silly an idea, so we’re back to square one - either she tries to get to know him with me, or she puts up with barking. I know which is more pleasant. And more sensible. It’s not as if he’s a big rottweiler…
I spent the morning downloading some new music. I was never into Leonard Cohen when I was younger - I think I heard ‘Suzanne’ once and thought it rather depressing. Now I love him! Also got some more Avett Brothers, George Ezra and Ed Sheeran. Got them on my Bose speaker...
We went out to Dobbie’s to look for a couple of window boxes and sundry items. I’ve never seen such a vast array of doggie treats! We got quite a few for the wee fella. We took him with us (so that he couldn’t harass the neighbour if she happened to hang her washing out). Left him in the car - and he was fine. I popped back a couple of times to check, skulking around in the car park so as to observe him unseen. He didn’t cry, just went to sleep (he doesn't cry when I go into shops now). I think security might have been getting interesting in my antics…
He sat on my knee the whole way, happily looking out and seemingly quite relaxed. Then… as we came into the final turn home, he was SICK (as a dog). I had the sick bag ready, so no mess. But what a shame - he so nearly made it.
The nuisance calls began again this morning. I have looked them up - they are awful! Check out the complaints about this lot, UK Habits - whoever they are! How can they get away with this? The dog whistle is coming out this evening if they persist...
Archie really hates autumn leaves because they stick to his hairy legs and drive him mad. Funny to see him trying to avoid them on pavements.
Now for a glass of wine and those new playlists…
EDIT: A friend has just rung this evening from NZ, and having read about the nuisance calls, shouted, 'Don't blow the whistle, it's Sue!' Gave me laugh.
